This page will contain write-ups and photos (our memories) of Hunts Branch Social Events. Everyone always has a really enjoyable time at the Hunts Branch events, which will hopefully come across in the material on this page. If you are interested in attending future social events then please check out the Hunts Branch Diary.

Booze on the Ouse Ale Trail - 1 to 25 Nov 22

In lieu of the annual Autumn Booze on the Ouse Beer and Cider Festival, Hunts branch set up an Ale Trail covering much of November 23 to facilitate a little extra support for our pubs and clubs in and around Huntingdon, as well as provide an excuse for branch members and pub goers to drink in a few more of the great range of pubs we have around our towns and villages. Check out a few memories of this trail submitted by trail participants on the Booze on the Ouse Ale Trail 2022 - Huntingdon page.

Campaigning Coach Trip - 27 Nov 21

Our first branch coach trip after the COVID-19 restrictions could not come quick enough for most. A very popular social, the seats filled up in a matter of hours, and the event itself lived up to expectations. The first stop on this trip was a tour of the Rocket Brewery, followed by 5 further stops. Check out the memories of this campaigning social on the Campaigning Coach Trip - 27th Nov 21 page.

Summer Social Walk - 27 Jul 19

Following today's committee meeting at the Three Horseshoes in Houghton branch members joined us for an afternoon walk around several local pubs. First stop was the Three Jolly Butchers in Wyton where five beers were available. We crossed the river at Houghton Mill to the Axe & Compass in Hemingford Abbots. Final stop for most of the group was the Cock in Hemingford Grey. A folk festival was taking place with some additional beers in the beer garden. Although it had started to rain some of the group continued into St Ives for some final drinks.

Tour of York Pubs - 22 Mar 19

Another year on from the Hunts Branch train trip to Nottingham, the usual suspects as well as some welcome new comers journeyed to another historic city for 2019’s Branch train trip. This year we found ourselves in historic York; and on another glorious spring day, the group only scratched the surface of the plethora of amazing pubs that York has to offer. But of the 14 pubs we visited, we certainly found out that York is a truly fabulous city for beer and good pubs. Check out a short write up and some accompanying photos of the day on the Tour of York Pubs - 22nd Mar 19 page.

Christmas Beer Shopping - St Neots - 23rd Dec 18

The annual Christmas Beer Shopping Social of St Neots was as fun as ever, bumping right up against Christmas this year on the eve of Christmas Eve. Check out some memories of the 6 pub tour on the Christmas Beer Shopping - 23rd Nov 18 page.

Award Presentation Coach Trip - 24th Nov 18

Arriving at The Anchor at Little Paxton at midday, followed by The Royal Oak at Hail Weston, The Eight Bells at Abbotsley, The Crown & Cushion at Gransden and ending up at The Chequers in Little Gransden at approx. 3.00 pm, this group spent the rest of this afternoon joining in with the celebrations for winning Regional Pub of the Year. There was a presentation by the regional co-ordinator, and a good time had by all. Check out some memories of the day on the Award Presentation Coach Trip - 24th Nov 18 page, along with a report from committee member Jez.

Campaigning Coach Trip - 1st Sep 18

This coach trip saw us visit 8 pubs in the branch area where we sampled the beer and cider on offer on this glorious September day. There was even a few games of skittles!. Check out some memories of the day on the Campaigning Coach Trip - 1st Sep 18 page.

Summer Social Tour - St Ives - 7th Jul 18

The Summer Social Tour of 2018 was around the real ale pubs of St Ives. The tour took us around 8 of the towns pubs where we sampled the beers and ciders on offer. Check out some memories of the day on the Summer Social Tour of St Ives page.

Mystery Coach Tour - 16th Jun 18

Yet another successful mystery coach trip, and the mystery yet again was maintained right up to the first stop and then throughout. The tour took us first to the Three Blind Mice Brewery at Little Downham, Ely, for a tour of the brewery, then onto 6 pubs. Check out some memories of the day on the Mystery Coach Trip - Jun 18 page.

Tour of Nottingham Pubs - 5th May 18

Nottingham is full of history and legend; and not only for Robin Hood but also legendary for its extensive range of pubs offering great selections of real ale. The Hunts CAMRA branch put this to the test on Saturday 5th May, and we're happy to report that this is no fable. Our group of real ale enthusiasts toured a good selection of pubs around Nottingham and as usual good memories were made. Check out the selection of photographs on the Tour of Nottingham Pubs - May 18 page that capture the day and hopefully the great mood.

Huntingdon Town Centre Pub Tour - 13 Jan 18

On Saturday 13th January 2018 the Hunts CAMRA Branch held their regular committee meeting in the Falcon, Huntingdon. Following the essential admin, the committee and other members ventured out into Huntingdon Town Centre for a well deserved social event. Just a few photos of this event to share, everyone was far to interested in the beer; but a very good time was had by all.

The pubs that we visited and are captured in the photos were: Falcon, Market Inn, Samual Pepys & The Old Bridge. Check out the photos of the day on the Huntingdon Town Centre Social - Jan 18 page.

Hunts Branch Mystery Tour - 18 Nov 17

A mystery to all right up until each stage of the tour, a coach full of beer and cider enthusiasts braved the unknown, putting their faith in our social secretary to pull off another great day of socialising and beer and cider drinking. As usual, she pulled this off with ease and another great social was had. The first stop was to the Lord Conrad's Brewery, where after an interesting brewery talk by brewer Jon Neale, the group contributed £250 for Cancer Research in lieu of the cost of the beer. The mystery continued to a further 6 pubs. Check out the photos of the day on the Mystery Coach Tour - Nov 17 page.

South of Branch Rural Pubs Coach Trip - 16 Sep 17

Over 40 Real Ale and Cider enthusiasts took to the road for a tour of 8 rural pubs in the south of the Branch as part of our on-going campaign to support pubs in the region. Check out the photos of the day on the South Hunts Rural Pubs Coach Trip - Sep 17 page.

Previous Booze on the Ouse Beer & Cider Festivals

Organising and running the Booze on the Ouse Beer and Cider Festivals is a significant part of the Hunts Branch campaigning activity, and can only run with the host of CAMRA volunteers who give up their time to support the events. We wouldn't do it if we really didn't enjoy it, and hopefully you can see that from some of the Photos of Previous Festivals. Click this link to find out about the next Booze on the Ouse Festivals, or even better, to join in the fun and join the team of festival volunteers, contact the Volunteer Coordinator (Juliet Ferris): ku.gro.armac.stnuh@sreetnulov.
