Winner: The Chequers, Little Gransden

The award was presented on 30th June at The Chequers pub to Licensees Wendy and Bob Mitchell. The event was celebrated with a couple of live bands that played throughout the afternoon and a hog roast to raise money for charity. And of course there was ample to choose from in terms of real ale, brewed in their very own brewery on site, Son of Sid Brewery.

Having been the winners of the Hunts Branch Pub of the Year, The Chequers went forward and won this Pub of the Year award for Cambridgeshire, beating very good pubs in Peterborough, Cambridge and Ely. It now goes forward into the East Anglia regional Pub of the Year Award, the winner of which will go into the final judging for the overall national CAMRA Pub of the Year, which will be announced in February 2019.

Winner: Fox & Hounds, Great Gidding

The Most Improved Rural Pub of the Year award went to the Fox & Hounds, Great Gidding. Branch Pubs Officer Ray presented the award which was accepted on behalf of the winning pub by Branch Social Secretary Juliet.

Winner: The Anchor, Little Paxton

The Most Improved Urban Pub of the Year award went to the Anchor, Little Paxton. Branch Treasurer Graham presented the award to the Ale Taster licensee Rachel.

Winner: Royal Oak, St Ives

The Mild & Dark Beer Pub of the Year award went to the Royal Oak, St Ives. Local Sales Exec Nigel presented the award to the Royal Oak licensees Lindsey & Dave.

Winner: Green Man, Leighton Bromswold

The LocAle Pub of the Year award went to the Green Man, Leighton Bromswold. Local Handyman and Branch Committee member Laurance presented the award, which was accepted on behalf of the Green Man licensees by Branch Pubs Officer Ray.

Winner: The Ale Taster, St Neots

The Urban Pub of the Year award went to The Ale Taster, St Neots. The award was presented to the licensees by the Mayor of St Neots.

Winner: The Chequers, Little Gransden

The Rural Pub of the Year award went to the Chequers, Little Gransden. Unable to collect in person, the award was accepted on behalf of the licensees by Festival Bar Manager Kathy Hadfield-Moorhouse and Committee member Roy Endersby; presented by the Mayor of St Neots.

Winner: The Ale Taster, St Neots

The Ale Taster in St Neots is the Cider Pub of the Year. Local cider Rep Clive presented the award with the Mayor of St Neots to The Ale Taster Licensee Paul Greenwood.

Winner: King of the Belgians, Hartford

The King of the Belgians is also well known as a genuine community pub, providing a real focal point for those living nearby and hosting regular activities in support of good causes in the locality. The Community Pub of the Year award presented by Branch Chairman Richard and the Mayor of St Ives.

Winner: Buckden Village Club

The Club of the Year award went to the Buckden Village Club. Festival Glasses Manager and Rep for the Festival Charity (The Wildlife Trust) presented this award alongside the Mayor of St Neots.

Winner: Papworth Brewery's Robin Goodfellow

Not technically a pub award, but awarded at the festival none the less. The Robin Goodfellow Strong bitter by Papworth Brewery took the Gold in this category for East Anglia. Festival Bar Manager Kathy presented the award with the Mayor of St Neots to Papworth Owner and Branch Chairman Richard Harrison.
